CULTURE : Integrated cultivation (no herbicides, ecological tillage, manual leaf thinning, green harvesting), meeting all the requirements for HVE3 certification obtained in 2019.

After manual harvesting and careful sorting (with an optical eye machine), the grapes are taken to concrete vats at a gentle temperature for fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. During the first few days, the wine is pumped over twice or three times a day to extract the best tannins. The wine is then aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels.

This Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is a real treat with its perfect blend of Merlot and Cabernet. It is a fruity, well-balanced wine for laying down, with subtle tannins. Harmonious, it has a lovely nose of ripe grapes, enveloped in elegant oaky notes of red fruit and morello cherries.

Medals & Tasting notes:

92-93/100 : JAMES SUCKLING

92/100 : ANDREAS LARSSON, « Medium deep garnet colour and hue. Pure and layered nose blending some toast and smoke with ripe dark fruit, blackberry, tobacco and violet. Good density and freshness with layers of ample dark fruit, ripe and polished tannins, well built with avery fine length and potential.»

92/100 : JAMES SUCKLING«Pretty core of ripe fruit here, yet it remains fresh and linear. Medium-bodied with firm and silky tannins. Solid length here.»

93/100 : WINE ENTHUSIAST, « Produced from the oldest vines on this estate, this is a ripe and concentrated wine. Aged for 18 months in wood, it has developed a powerful toast and spice character that is still dominant. But with the strong fruitiness and acidity, it will develop into a impressive wine. Drink from 2023. »

93-94/100 : JAMES SUCKILING, « This is very beautiful with dark-berry and chocolate character. Medium body and juicy fruit. This is fantastic! »

92/100 : WINE ENTHUSIAST, « Old vines on the estate, close to the ancient city walls of Saint-Émilion, produce this smoothly ripe wine. It is broad, generously rich with black fruits. The toast from wood aging will integrate with time. Wait until 2024 for this impressive wine to be ready to drink. »

92-93/100 : JAMES SUCKILING, « Plenty of refined fruits here with a savory character, spices and chocolate. Medium body, clean finish. »

91/100 : JAMES SUCKLING, « Gorgeous aromas to this wine with blueberries, blackberries, spices and fresh earth. Full body, firm tannins and a long and rich finish. A beauty. Better in 2017. »

High Environmental Value (HVE)

What is it?

The HVE label is an initiative of the French Ministry of Agriculture, based on indicators measuring the environmental performance of winegrowing and farming operations. It is based on four themes: the preservation of biodiversity (fauna and flora), phytosanitary strategy, fertilisation management and irrigation management.
