CLOS DES MENUTS

SAINT-EMILION GRAND CRU
WINES & MONOLITHIC CELLARS

Monolithic cellars

Located in the very heart of Saint-Emilion, the Clos des Menuts Monolithic Cellars are a must-see on any visit to Saint-Emilion. Dotted with ancient grain silos from the Middle Ages, they are a popular stopover for the many visitors to the medieval town: they are among the most beautiful in the village.

A family
story

With ancestors who were tenant farmers, winemakers, coopers, cellar masters and wine merchants (all from Saint-Emilion or Saint-Christophe des Bardes), vines and wine have run in the veins of the RIVIERE family for over 300 years.

Passion, respect for the terroir, excellence and elegance are the watchwords of the entire Clos des Menuts team.

The Brunet door, featured on our 3 labels, is just a few metres from the first hectare acquired by the Andrieu and then Riviere families.

It is part of the ramparts of the medieval town, built in the 12th century to protect the prosperous village and demonstrate its power. It was also a source of revenue for the village, as a tax had to be paid to enter.

Of the seven gates built, this is the only one that has not been destroyed over the centuries.
